Their Phantom 3 Professional is top of the range of the Phantom 3 series of quadcopter featuring a massive range of upgraded features and specs over any previous generation of Phantom. The Phantom 3 Professional is a brilliant option both those who wish to use it professionally and those who want to use it for hobby purposes but have a keen interest in photography or videography. DJI took time to add many new high tech features to the Phantom 3 such as the Lightbridge video link and ultrasonic sensors. But what really makes the Phantom 3 Professional special and seperates it from the other models such as the Phantom 3 Advanced is it's 4K camera unit.

4K Camera and Gimbal System

At the time of it's release the Phantom 3 Professional's camera was the most advanced camera on a quadcopter to date. The camera boasts 4K video recorded at 23,25 and 30 frames a second as well as 1080p and 720p at up to 60fps. Still photos are also taken at 12 megapixel. This camera is still considered one of DJI's best, only surpassed by the Phantom 4 camera and the Zenmuse X5 series for the Inspire 1. All cameras used on any of the Phantom 3 models will be integrated into a gimbal system. A gimbal will use high powered motors to keep all 3 axis steady and counteract any movements. This enables you to capture extremely smooth and high quality video while flying.

Lightbridge HD Video Downlink

DJI Lightbridge is a piece of high tech equipment that massively boosts control and video range as well as giving you a live HD view of what your drone camera see's at all times. The Lightbridge technology was once sold seperately and would retail at just under £1000 by itself. To take the Phantom 3 to a whole new level DJI has now integrated the Lightbridge into the Phantom 3 controller unit. This means that both the Phantom 3 Professional and Advanced have a control and video range of 2km, more than double that of the previous Phantom 2. You can now simply connect your smartphone or tablet to the controller via a USB cable and the Lightbridge will give you a live 720p HD view and so giving you the ability to have full control over the camera view and help get the perfect shots.

Vision Positioning System

The Vision positioning technology was something first seen with the release of the Inspire 1 quadcopter. A newer version was then designed and used for the Phantom 3 Professionl and Advanced. It is a small device that sits behind the camera on the bottom of the craft. It uses several sensors and small cameras to scan the ground beneath the drone during flight. It is designed for stable flying while indoors when a GPS signal is not available.

Intelligent 4480mah LiPo Battery

The included battery is suitable for use with all four Phantom 3 models. The built-in sensors on this battery allow you to view the current status and battery life left in real time on your smart device while flying. A very useful feature to ensure you know exactly when to land your craft safely and in time. This battery will give you up to a maximum of 23 minutes flight time and with the more powerful charger included with the Phantom 3 Professional, charging times are kept to around the 1 hour mark.

Intelligent Flight Modes

Although not available on release like the Inspire 1 DJI soon released an update for the Phantom 3 Professional with these flight modes.

  • Follow me - Your Phantom 3 will track the radio controller and your smart device and follow behind you. You can adjust the height and distance you want it to be following at.
  • Way Points - With the way point feature you can use a map on your DJI GO app to plot different points to which your drone can then fly to in the order you specify.
  • Point of Interest - This feature allows your to lock your camera on to a specifc subject and the craft will circle around it while keeping the camera locked on the target object. The distance and height can also be specified.
  • Course Lock - Course Lock lets the aircraft fly along a set path and will continue down the set course regardless of where the nose is pointing. Great for getting those professional panning shots.
  • Home Lock - This lets you control the aircraft relative to the Home Point set. No matter which way you point the aircraft forward always heads away from the home point and backwards will always head towards the point.
DJI GO App

The DJI GO App is used with the Phantom 3, Phantom 4 and Inspire 1 quadcopters. It can be downloaded on to your smart device for free from the App store. The GO app is what you will use to see the live HD view from the camera but it is also used for a range of other features and settings. Any settings you want to change with your aircraft, controller, photo and video settings will all be done through the App. Calibrations such as the compass calibration and IMU calibration will also be done here as well as updates for your remote controller. One of the apps many features is Livestreaming. You can now stream your footage live over Youtube and allow others to watch and comment in near real time. Also available to you will be a quick video editor. This software will allow you to quickly choose your best moments with the ability to add music, text and more.

Returns

You may return most new, unopened items in original packaging within 14 days of delivery for a full refund. You should expect to receive your refund within two weeks of giving your package to the return shipper, however, in many cases you will receive a refund more quickly.
